Ben Nghe Port was officially established on May 20, 1987 as a member enterprise under the SaiGon Transportation Mechanical Corporation - a One Member Limited Company, a member of Vietnam Seaports Association (VPA) and Asia Seaports Association (APA)... On December 30, 2005, Ben Nghe Port was transformed into Ben Nghe Port one-member limited company under Decision No. 6685/QD-UBND of People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

          Ben Nghe Port one-member limited company is the provider of multi-functional seaports services for a variety of goods and not only specializes in such activities as loading, unloading, transporting, warehousing and storing bulk materials in general but also provides services to container goods domestically as well as internationally. 

          Ben Nghe Port has a total area of 32.22 ha, locating at 10o45’30’’N – 106o44’18’’E, with pilot boarding position located at 10o20’N – 107o03’E, 45 sea miles away from the pilot boarding position at Vung Tau. Port inflow has a length of 84 km and depth of -8.5m. Tidal regime is irregular semi-diurnal. Average tidal range is 2.7m Highest allowable draft is -10.05 m, allowing maximum vessel size up to 36,000 DWT
          Road: adjacent to Phu My Bridge to the East - linking Districts 7, 2, and 9, and National Road 52; adjacent to Nguyen Van Linh Avenue to the South - linking National Road 1A and western provinces, Tay Ninh Province, Binh Duong Province, etc.; adjacent to Thu Thiem Tunnel and Thu Thiem bridge to the North - linking to District 1, Long Thanh - Dau Giay speedway, etc. This is an advantageous geographical position in road-waterway traffic network, making it play an important role in the import, export cargo and domestics goods go through the southern provinces and coverage country.
          While initially it allowed only approx. 2,000 DWT vessels to arrive, today, the Port has been developed with 816-m berth, 22-ha container yard, 10,000-m2 warehouse together with modern facilities and equipment with a total capital of over 700 billion dong and a force of passionate, highly qualified and experienced employees, all of which have enhanced goods capacity of Ben Nghe Port to hundreds, thousands of tons and up to 4 million TTQ/year, with a revenue of over 200 billion dong.
          In 2006, the investment project of Phu Huu container port in District 9 was commenced with a total construction area of 24 ha and 600 m of berth, expected to allow up to 30,000 DWT container capacity; phase I of the project has been completed with 320m of berth being officially functional; and an addition of 280m of berth shall be completed in phase II. Phu Huu construction project is also recognized by Trade Union of HCMC and awarded the panel of "Phu Huu Berth Construction Work Welcoming the 11th National Congress of the Party 2011 - 2015"
          Currently, Phu Huu Port has been operated, and while there are many difficulties ahead, with the dynamism, creativity and determination of the Party Union, Management and workforce of Ben Nghe Port, we are confident about the future when Ben Nghe Port shall consistently develop and become a highlight in traffic & transport sector of the City.
          In addition to completive spirit and production efforts, Ben nghe Port also pays special attention to caring for its staff living conditions by raising their income and engaging them in the supervision of salary & bonus distribution budget in a democratic manner. Besides, it also facilitates conditions for employees to study to enhance their qualification and skills to better satisfy and perform political tasks assigned by superiors.
          Ben Nghe Port also participates in public activities such as nation defense, fire prevention & protection, seaport security, etc. All of Port personnel and officers also donate one-day salary each as a contribution to shows gratitude to efforts of previous generations, care for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, build up benevolent houses, contribute to hunger eradication and poverty reduction funds and agent orange settlement fund, and offer aid to the people suffering from flood and storm.
          With such achievements, Ben Nghe Port - Ben Nghe Port one-member limited company - has been awarded 3rd-, 2nd- , and 1st-class labor medals and 3rd- and 2nd-class independence medals by the State. This is the honor offered to all generations of workers at Ben Nghe Port.
